* NOTE: The fourth year of high school math can be replaced with a score of 24 on the ACT and/or a score of 540 on the SAT, or with a college-level Math course from Pima Community College.
Luz Guerrero Early College provides students the opportunity to earn college credit from Pima Community College through Pima's dual enrollment program. In order to take part in this program, students must take the Pima's placement test called the Asset. Students will then be placed in the appropriate college classes. We also offer Advanced Placement classes.
**NOTE: In order to attend Arizona Universities, all incoming students must take a math readiness test (the MRT). The Arizona Universities understand that quite often, grades are not a clear indicator of knowledge gained in a course. Some students retain skills better than others which can greatly affect performance in subsequent courses. The MRT focuses on the types of skills that are needed when you enter a UA course. If a student cannot perform at a level needed for success in a particular course, they must take a prerequisite course(s).
AIMS Graduation Requirement
On November 2, 2000, the Arizona State Board of Education approved a motion to require the Arizona Department of Education to offer five opportunities to Arizona high school students to take all subtests (reading, writing and mathematics) prior to placing AIMS results on student transcripts. The performance level achieved, content level assessed, and the scale score will appear on official transcripts. STUDENTS MUST MEET THE STANDARD ON ALL TESTS TO GRADUATE.
